Infiniti Releases Etherea Concept

The Geneva Auto Show is just around the corner, but Infiniti decided to release one of its concepts ahead of the game: the Etherea.

“Nissan, owner of Infiniti, has certainly turned out some eccentric car designs over the past few years. The Infiniti Etherea concept won’t change course from that philosophy when it’s unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show on March 1,” says Kicking Tires, adding, “While we don’t know much, we know that this amorphous vehicle gives us a glimpse of Infiniti’s future design direction and confirms that the brand is thinking about an entry-level vehicle slotted below the G25 sedan.”

Where does the Etherea fit in the market? Infiniti is vague about the this concept’s identity, saying, “Designed under the direction of Senior Vice President of Design Shiro Nakamura, ETHEREA blends elements of coupé, sedan, hatchback and even crossover in one highly sculptural, near-mono volume form.” Inside line, however, says it’s a four-door hatchback.

Other than that, there’s little information available on the Etherea. Infiniti did identity it as a luxury model, which means it could cost around $30k. In the mean time, automotive journalists are filling in the blanks. “There's plenty of throwback to the company's showstopping Essence concept in the Etherea's visuals, notably the wavy C-pillar design,” writes Autoblog. “At only 173.2 inches long, the concept is about four inches longer than a Nissan Versa hatchback, and because of this, many of the styling cues – specifically the headlamps and that rearmost pillar – seem like they would be more at home on a much larger car.”

When the Geneva Auto Show starts on March 1, there will be a lot more information available on Etherea. As soon as it’s out, we’ll bring it to you.
